Purple Heart Hero

A local woman and her husband connected with us a couple years ago when they were going to be
moving. They were looking for some help sorting and preparing their items to move. Two women
volunteers went to work alongside the couple. Through that time much conversation was had and the
gentleman even shared his shadowbox of medals from his service for our country. There were many,
including a purple heart. He was quite a warrior and hero. The move was successful and they enjoyed
many days walking to nearby places and relaxing on their porch together watching traffic.

As time passed, his health declined and recently he went home to be with the Lord. We were able to be
in touch with his wife through this process and beyond often just listening and praying together. When
she was ready to sort through his clothes for donation so that someone else could be blessed by the
items she reached out again. She requested that the same two ladies come if possible to help her
gather and transport those items to a local thrift store because “they were so sweet and helpful the last
time.” This is such a testament to the value of relationships and connections. That is what we want to
grow and continue here at Love INC of Greater Holmes County.
